RESOURCE: Free teleconference service WITH free recording of calls
I’m testing a new free teleconference service. (That’s a “bridge line,” to you coaches out there.)
It lets me host up to 100 callers at any time — no advance reservations needed.
Immediately after the call, I can download a digital recording of it.
Pretty cool.
Could you use this? Would you like free access? Read on:
The recording can be posted on a webpage or burned to CD or sold as an e-program or given away as a bonus product with some other offer. Or edited and cleaned up and added to a larger recording. Would love to hear other ways YOU use teleclass recordings. (Share by clicking the ‘Comments’ link below.)
How can they afford to give this away?
Will this service be free forever?
How long is forever? This is the Web, after all.
The company hopes to etch out a profit by upselling satisfied users and corporations to its toll-free-dial-in premium conference service — which costs the host from 4 cents to 6 cents per minute, depending upon which pre-pay plan you buy.
Want your own free, 24/7 teleconference line — with free recording capability? Takes less than 30 seconds to set up. Visit this link: FREE TELECONFERENCE LINE WITH FREE TELECONFERENCE RECORDING.
You’ll want to sign up for the second option — the one “with web control.” That’s the full-featured console that has the free recording option.
Please report back about how this works for you and about any quality issues. We’ve all learned the past six years or so that all free teleconference services are not created equal.
First thing I am noticing, and I’m going to call or email them about this, is that any time a caller joins or leaves the call or hits the keypad, it mutes the person speaking for about a second. Not sure if there is a workaround. Will report back when I find out.

Ken – I’ve been using NoCostConference.com to both hold teleclasses and record backups of my conferences for about a year now. There are many pros and a few cons. I would advise everyone to hit the second box on the left hand side of the page that says “Teleconference with Recording” as people don’t do that and then wonder how to record! The recording includes a web-based control panel which is GREAT – except that it doesn’t as the old panel did (they changed formats six months ago) refresh when a new caller joins the line. Theoretically it’s great as you can see who’s called, mute them selectively and so on. There are problems with selective mute as when I the organizer mute a caller, I am frequently muted as well. But overall the service works just great. I would however only use it for BACKUP recording as it tends to have a hum on the finished product. I use AudioAcrobat for my frontline recording and the combination works great. On the one or two times Audio Acrobat has gone down, the NoCostConference.com recordings have sufficed admirably. Good resource – thanks Ken!!!

Good report, Maryam.
BTW, you are welcome to post a sigfile on any comment (so long as the sigfile isn’t excessively long — up to six lines is fine) to help people find out more about you and your offerings
I’m planning to file a support ticket with nocostconference and see if I can resolve something I expereinced in my first test yesterday.
Throughout the call, there were repeated beeps. Each beep tended to completely mute the person speaking for about 1 second. Not good. Lots of lost words.
I wasn’t hosting the call yesterday and so didn’t have access to the control console and so couldn’t see WHAT was triggering the beeps. I could guess. But it could be a lot of things.
I’m wondering if there is a way to silence the beeps while keeping the touchpad functionality for the callers.
I’ll find out.
Best,
kwc

Cool, thanks Ken! Per the recommend on CoachTalk-L today, I’ve now signed up for the free 250 person bridge (woo hoo!!) with free recording and web-controls here:

we’ll see how she goes. I too have had that problem with nocostconference.com, and heaven knows, it could be anything. Much luck with that. We’ll keep each other posted on this – great thread! And thanks for the sigfile permission, I’ll take you up on that as our missions are from what I can see, completely compatible. :-)
Warmly,
Maryam

Maryam, I’ve signed up for the liveoffice line, too and will be testing it probably within the week. Actually, if you’re doing a class on it this week, let me know, and I’ll drop in if I can and listen for awhile and see how the system seems to work.
Best,
