Don’t diet.

Diets require willpower. Diets imply “temporary.” Diets deprive.

(And diets deprave. I say that with only the tiniest tip of tongue in cheek. I’ve DONE diets. I know about diets.)

Diets don’t work.

At least not for long. Not for weight loss.

We all know people who’ve lost lots of weight while rigorously subjecting themselves to dieting.

And we all know people who’ve put it all back on, and then some, within 12 months of finishing the diet.

Maybe you are one of those people.

I am.

Flab is good

If you are exercising daily, eating healthful energizing food, eating in moderation, noticing your clothes getting looser, but seeing rolls of flab appearing on your body — that’s a great sign.

You must reframe “flab.” See it as a tremendous positive. A sign of accomplishment.

Because that’s what it is.

Mice that exercise resist cancer

A just-published Rutgers University study found that female mice that exercised were substantially more resistant to cancer than those that did the mouse equivalent of sitting on the couch and watching TV.
